The New York market

How we staff here

From Manhattan penthouses to multi-residence estates, our candidates navigate New York logistics with efficiency and discretion. Clients are ultra-high-net-worth individuals who require experienced staff capable of operating in fast-paced environments across multiple properties. Our candidates are familiar with co-op and condo building protocols and vendor coordination, and are comfortable with complex schedules, travel, and multi-home coordination.

New York households are usually smaller in square footage and larger in complexity than anywhere else we work. A townhouse on the Upper East Side and a penthouse on Central Park West both run on building staff, service entrances, freight elevator reservations, and a set of house rules written by a board. Someone new to the city can learn it, but they will spend their first three months learning it, and most of our clients would rather not fund that education. We prioritize candidates who already know how a building works.

Space changes the job in ways people underestimate. There is rarely a back staircase, staff and family occupy the same rooms at the same time, and the ability to be present without being noticeable is a genuine skill rather than a nice quality. It is the thing we probe hardest in a New York interview. Many of the households we serve here also keep a second home in the Hamptons, Palm Beach or abroad, and staffing the two together, rather than as separate searches, almost always produces a better result.
